The first Grand Seiko watch was released in December 1960, marking a significant step forward in Japan's high-end watchmaking. This watch has a daily error of+12/-3 seconds and is Japan's first watch to meet the excellent standards of the Swiss Bureau of Motion Control (Bureaux Officiels de Contra ô le de la Marche des Montes).

At Watches&Wonders 2024, Grand Seiko launched a brand new limited edition replica of its first wristwatch, featuring an elegant 18K rose gold case and clasp. The spectacular navy blue dial paired with a sparkling timepiece evokes the image of a starry night. At 6 o'clock, an octagonal shape is decorated above the position, which is the symbol of a special dial. The timepiece is made of pure gold material, adding a touch of delicacy to the 50 independently numbered watches commemorating the origin of the brand.

The 9S64 manual winding movement provides power for the watch, which is thin, durable, and precise. The static daily error is only+5/-3 seconds, and the power is stored for up to 72 hours. The design of the 9S64 movement emphasizes aesthetics, strength, and performance, equipped with large polished wheel bridge panels, which can be carefully viewed through the sapphire crystal back.
